Two new bands in concert: Salvation Street Shout and Impermanent Quartet

I’m premiering two new bands in the first weekend in August as part of Cockatoo Calling: the Salvation Street Shout and the Impermanent Quartet.

06 August · 16:00 – 18:00
Cockatoo Island, Building 15
Entry $10 or $5 concession

4pm: Impermanent Quartet, featuring Dan Junor, Alex Boneham, Jamie Cameron and myself.

5pm: Salvation Street Shout, Featuring 7 mean trombone players and Jamie Cameron on the snare. Think harmonious rather than raucous, Sam Cooke is our inspiration.
Which mean trombone players? Dan Barnett, Dave Panichi, Alex Silver, Mike Raper, Grant Arthur and myself.

Be transported to the soulful streets of 1920s Charlotte, North Carolina as Salvation Street Shout revives the Southern tradition of the trombone shout band. Seven trombone players and one jumpin’ drummer will soothe and save you with their harmonic hymns, harking back to the church bands of old. Featuring the music of Sam Cooke and The Soul Stirrers, this is an experience that will be at once Holy and jivin’.
