Little Egypt’s Burlesque

With a cast of Sydney’s sexiest musicians, a bump ‘n’ grind of burlesque beauties, and a scorching soundtrack straight from the west coast of 1950s USA, Little Egypt’s Burlesque is the excuse Sydney’s been looking for to truly let it’s hair down.
Steering clear of proscriptive musical and theatrical experiences, the show has been hand crafted with the intention of breaking down the invisible fourth wall that so often exists between performers and the audience. Songs are chosen for their ability to inspire the most powerful performances – Little Egypt’s Burlesque is as much of a revelation for the cast of characters making and interpreting the music as for those experiencing it. Choreography and physical theatre add to the impact, giving the audience permission to be as involved as they long to be, and the performers the chance to revel in the inherent sensuality of the music. website | facebook

My Goodness, McGuiness!

My Goodness, McGuiness! are connected to an older tradition, of which Bartók himself was enthusiastically a part, and which was best expressed in the jazz idiom by Gil Evans. It is the artist as ethnographer, equipped with education and knowledge but wanting to learn something new, opening their ears to the world and letting it sing to them. The arrangements live up to this attitude in every way, from their openness and light melodic touch to the chosen instrumentation.
Insular Peninsular is the first recording from the group, and features a mostly gentle instrumental landscape of blue-blood 1970s pop covers and original songs by Lucian McGuiness. hear | facebook
